Intro to After Effects

AE is used for animation, visual effects and motion picture compositing. We can combine layers of video and images into the same scene using it. It works by manipulating vectors and rasterising art.

How to link Adobe Photoshop layers to AE (problems that I have encountered)?

1. Make sure you're in RGB colour mode. (Image > Mode > RGB Colour)

2. Save file.

3. Open .psd file in AE, choose Composition - Retain Layer Size.

4. Don't merge your layers.

5. If it's still not presenting separate layers, check if you're in composition mode, instead of layer mode.

Exercise: After Effect

As we are using After Effect for our final project, Mr. Fauzi gave us an exercise to familiarise its functions.

To export .mp4 file, there's another app 'Adobe Media Encoder'. It was quite hard from the start as it's completely different from the other Adobe apps I have used before.
