Project 3: Cinemagraph - Self-Titled

1. Idea Development
A. Write a biography about yourself.

INTRO

Tell us about yourself

My name is Zhao Yi and I am turning 19 this year. I’m currently studying Bachelor of Design in Creative Media in Taylor’s University.

PARAGRAPH 1

What is an interesting fact about you?

People think I’m super skinny and I don’t do exercise, but I played 24 Festive Drums for 7 years. It’s true I don’t like exercise nor sweating, however I enjoy music very much.

PARAGRAPH 2

What is the one thing you dislike most of yourself?

I get into self-abasement easily. I wish I could be more confident.

SUMMARY

How do you want to visualise your dream to an artwork?

I don’t have a dream actually, I was thinking to create a style that I like.

B. Write a statement about your work.

INTRO

Tell us about your work

On my biography I have mentioned that I was thinking to create what I like, mostly represents what kind of personalities I desired.

PARAGRAPH 1

What is the concept behind it?

I want my work presents a different me, the one I have never shown anyone before.

PARAGRAPH 2

What is the message you want to send?

I wish everyone understand that it is okay to have multi-personalities, sometimes you’re just tired to be the same old you.

SUMMARY

What is your quote?

You don’t have to explain to anyone for being yourself.

Artist Statement: I wish to inspire individuals to accept of being true selves. You can feel guilty, angry, unkind, and that is all not a big deal. It’s important to express yourselves with different ways such as fashion, hobbies, or personal interests. Overall, this poster aims to inspire individuals to celebrate their individuality, break free from societal expectations, and embrace their true selves. It serves as a reminder that by being authentic, individuals can unleash their unique talents and make a positive impact on the world around them.

REFLECTIONS

As this is the final project for DPI, I have spent more time and effort on it. Throughout my journey of learning, I have embarked on a path of self-discovery, creativity, and continuous growth. I found out that design are not just about serving people, it's about expressing yourself, and sending out messages you want to send. It has been a captivating and rewarding experience, filled with both triumphs and challenges.

Surrealism art has a
deeper understanding of the human experience, daring to go deeper than other artists have touched in order to conjure hidden parts of the human unconscious.

Surrealism is the extension of Dadaism. Artists that identified with it used spontaneity, teamwork, and chance or luck to produce their work. Challenging traditional, rigid approaches to art, they focused mainly on creating collage and photomontage rather than the more traditional painting and sculpture to redefine the meaning of art.
